Bad weather always looks worse through a window. Flannel and Lambswool  will most always do the trick (at Manhattan Park).

Bear Down, Layer Up & Beat the Cold

The worst winter months are ahead, but that doesn’t mean you should sacrifice your style to keep warm.  Wearing topcoats and lugging them around the city is no fun, I agree.  Sure, show off your topcoat when you’re headed to the office and have a designated place to put it once you’re there, but try to avoid wearing it out on the town or if you’re on the run.

If you’re wearing a suit or a sport coat, throw a cardigan or V-neck sweater on under your jacket to keep the heat in.  Personally, I like to sport a down vest under or over my suit jacket.  Make sure your vest is low profile and isn’t overly puffy, the Michelin Man guise is not good for your look.  When selecting the proper sized vest, a good rule of thumb is to make sure the shoulders of the vest are not broader or longer than your jacket.  Note that the vest dresses down your ensemble while the cardigan and sweater dress it up.  Make sure you’re layering up for the proper occasion.

The winter months shouldn’t be mistaken for a pajama party, don’t wear silk.  If you’re wearing a tie make sure it’s cotton or wool.  Tighten up that scarf, bear down, layer up and beat the cold in style.
